Fatmata Sankoh

Fatmata Sankoh is a passionate youth advocate, development practitioner, and emerging policy leader dedicated to advancing gender equality, girls' education, youth leadership, and community development in Sierra Leone. As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Girls Alliance Incorporation (GAI), she leads the organization's strategic vision, driving impactful initiatives that empower girls and young women through advocacy, mentorship, leadership development, and capacity-building.

With a strong background in gender and development, Fatmata has successfully mobilized partnerships, coordinated community-based programs, and championed policies that promote the rights, voices, and opportunities of girls and women. Her leadership has positioned GAI as a growing youth-led organization committed to creating inclusive spaces where young women can thrive and become agents of positive change.

Beyond GAI, Fatmata has served in several leadership and volunteer roles, including as Vice President of Gender Development at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and with organizations such as the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone, where she contributed to public health campaigns, human rights advocacy, and community engagement initiatives.

Fatmata holds a Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Development Studies from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and continues to champion innovative, youth-driven solutions that promote equality, leadership, and sustainable community transformation. Her work is guided by the belief that when girls are empowered with knowledge, opportunity, and confidence, they become powerful leaders capable of shaping a more just and equitable future.
